The Academy of Financial Services is hosting its annual research conference in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA), from October 5 - 7th in collaboration with the CFP Board Connections Conference, with this year's research theme, Global Perspectives for the New Era of Financial Services. This international meeting of researchers, practitioners, graduate students and leaders of financial planning practice and services provides a showcase for rigorous, relevant research within financial planning, as well as disciplines that directly or indirectly relate to the financial planning body of knowledge or financial planning practice.
The conference committee welcomes completed papers on topics related to the research theme. Suitable topic areas may include:
Although extended abstracts can be submitted, completed papers will receive significant preference and will be a requirement for consideration for best paper awards, along with AFS membership. All papers will be considered for oral presentations or poster presentations. Panel discussions may also be selected from submissions that focus on a particular theme or topic. For example, financial planning technology, financial planning education, financial planning process, or financial planning standards.

The Academy of Financial Services is proud to have academic, student and practitioner members and Board of Directors from multiple countries – USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom and more. While we offer hybrid research presentation options in respect of our international membership and concerns about climate change, Las Vegas is an in-person conference only. The Conference Committee is working with CFP® affiliates in Canada, Australia and elsewhere to ensure maximum exposure of research to practitioners. We will be announcing virtual opportunities for other 2026 North American and Australian conferences soon.
2026 DOCTORAL PROGRAM
AFS encourages submissions from PhD students in Financial Planning and related disciplines and provides an opportunity to receive constructive critique on their research presentations.
2026 BEST PAPER AWARDS
The Academy of Financial Services is currently negotiating best paper award opportunities for the AFS 2026 Conference. Details will be announced shortly. Please ensure that your AFS membership remains current after renewal date (1 July 2026) to be eligible for best paper awards.
SUBMISSION PROCESS
You are required to upload a blind copy of the file in addition to a regular copy containing author information. The cover page of the regular copy should contain the names, addresses, and institutional affiliations of all authors with one author listed as the primary contact person. The blind copy should not contain any author identifying information on the file itself. Each submission will be double blind peer reviewed. Papers already accepted for publication in a peer-reviewed journal will not be considered.
Registration Requirements: At least one author for all accepted papers must register for the conference on or before August 31st, 2026. As a courtesy to other authors, presenters of accepted papers must be able to attend in person in Las Vegas and should expect to serve as discussants or session chairs. There is no obligation for AFS or CFP Board to select a submission for presentation or publication.
