Notice of Elections for AFS Board

Pursuant to the Academy of Financial Services bylaws, Article VII Section 2, this is to notify you that there will be an election of new members to the Board of Directors and new Officers of the Association for terms in 2025/26.

NOTE: You must be a member of AFS in good standing to run for the Board or to vote in the elections.

  • Applications will be accepted from September 1st until October 31st
  • Voting will occur from November 1st to Nov 21st
  • Results will be announced December 1st
  • There are five (5) Officer positions being voted on:
    • President Elect (2025) becomes President (2026/27)
    • VP International (2025/26)
    • VP Membership (2025/26)
    • VP Communications (2025)
    • VP Marketing & Public Relations (2025) 
  • VP Communications & VP Marketing were appointed by the Board for 2024 and must be elected by the membership for 2025 as per the bylaws.
  • There are six (6) Directors seats on the Board that are open as five members have reached their terms and Mustafa Nourallah (#6) was appointed to the Board for 2024 and must run for the position for 2025/26 as per the bylaws.
  • Some current Officers of AFS may run for different leadership positions which could open up other Officer roles to be elected. We will make a followup announcement during the conference in Columbus. 

All candidates, both for Director and Officer positions, will have the opportunity to record a 2-minute video introducing themselves to you. This video and their CV will be posted on the Members Only section of the AFS Website on November 1st, allowing three weeks for your review and voting. You must be logged in to access the Members Only section.

Candidates are recommended to share:

  • Current role - Professor, Assistant Professor, PhD Student, Other Student, Practitioner, Industry and so on.
  • Share your research and teaching background in the field of financial planning
  • Share your volunteer activities with AFS, other associations in the field, generally
  • Share any Board experience you have had 
  • Share something unique about yourself that will be a positive addition for the Board

To apply/nominate for the Board or to vote in this election you need to be a currently active member of AFS (i.e., your membership fees paid up to date). The video which must be received by October 31st to be posted for the election.
