The Academy of Financial Services (Australia and NZ Chapter) (formerly Financial Planning Academics Forum (FPAF)) is hosting their biannual meeting and the 12th Personal Finance and Investment Symposium at QUT Gardens Point campus in Brisbane, Australia from November 25 - 26, 2024.

The meeting and symposium, themed “The Future of the Profession”, aim to explore the dynamic and evolving nature of the financial planning profession. With a hybrid format, we support both face-to-face attendance in Brisbane and virtual attendance of presenters and attendees. We therefore invite submissions from academics and practitioners worldwide to contribute to this significant dialogue.

Following FPAF's vote to become the AFS (Australia and NZ Chapter), the abstract submission date has been extended to provide the opportunity for more AFS members to participate.

• September 16, 2024: Abstract submission deadline
• September 30, 2024: Notification of acceptance
• October 21, 2024: Speaker registration deadline
• November 15, 2024: Full paper submission deadline

Registration details will be released shortly, followed by further program details through October and a full draft program in early November.

All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process. 

Abstracts

Authors are invited to submit an abstract of up to 500 words outlining their research objectives, methodology, and key findings. Please submit your abstracts via email to universities@faaa.au by September 16.

Full papers

Following acceptance of abstracts, please ensure your full paper is submitted to the conference via email to universities@faaa.au as soon as possible and no later than November 15.

Authors will also have the opportunity to submit papers for consideration to be published in a Special Issue of the Financial Planning Research Journal. Please follow the journal's manuscript guidelines and make your submission here.

FINANCIAL ADVICE ASSOCIATION AUSTRALIA (FAAA) CONFERENCE

As for prior years, the Personal Finance and Investment Symposium will run immediately prior to the Financial Advice Association Australia (formerly Financial Planning Association of Australia) Congress. The FAAA Congress is being held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from November 27 - 29, 2024. Early Bird pricing closes on September 30.
