Welcome | 2018 Annual Meeting |
AFS is currently seeking new candidates to join the Board of Directors for the period of October 2023-October 2025. Our mission is to empower all individuals, academics, students, and professionals in the field of financial planning with peer-reviewed research as the foundation of evidence-based financial decisions. AFS is a U.S. registered 501C charitable corporation with international membership, Board members and research focus.
AFS is looking for individuals who are committed to financial planning academia and the financial planning profession to not only help with our existing activities but help us introduce some new and exciting programs to assist the academic community in this field. This is a working Board fully run by volunteers, which means that Board members are expected to be actively engaged and participate in conference organization, on the Editorial Board for Financial Services Review, on committees such as reviewing papers and identifying award winners and more. Board meetings are normally held quarterly on Zoom. We also expect all Board members to be involved in the yearly hybrid conference, which is normally held in the Fall.
Nominations are open until September 13th. We hope to identify three individuals to join us for the next meeting on September 21st, before the conference and to start their term in October. If interested, please send your CV/resume and a cover letter outlining what you feel you can offer as an AFS Board Member to inga.timmerman@unf.edu.
$299 for September 28th, 29th FPA Add-on

NEWS June 2023: AFS declares Financial Services Review Diamond Open Access!
The Board of Directors of the Academy of Financial Services is exited to announce that the Financial Services Review is now a Diamond Open Access Journal, meaning there is no requirement to pay to access the research and AFS will no longer change submission fees or implement APCs/Article Processing Charges. If you are interested in accessing both past and present issues of FSR, you can register as an FSR Access Member at no cost.
FSR is a charitable association but we believe access to new research is fundamental to advancing the Financial Planning Profession. If you are an Academic, Student or a Practitioner who believes that evidence-based, peer-reviewed research is foundational to the profession, we encourage you to become a paid member of AFS.
