Welcome to the Academy of Financial Services!

The Academy of Financial Services is a global academic membership organization established in 1985, making 2025 our 40th anniversary. It is comprised of professors, students and financial planning practitioners focused on research and teaching standards in the profession of financial planning, and those interested in the role of research to improve professional standards. AFS publishes the B-indexed diamond open-access journal Financial Services Review which allows free access to researchers for submission and publication and to everyone for access to published research.

NEW Financial Services Review: Vol 33 No 2 Published

Dr. John Grable, Editor of Financial Services Review is pleased to announce the publication of Vol 33 No 2 for 2025. This issue includes an outstanding 8 new research papers and an Invited Paper!

NEW Call for Papers: AFS-Australia-New Zealand Chapter

Personal Finance and Investment Symposium 2025

November 16-17 2025, Perth, Australia

The Australia–New Zealand (AFS-ANZ) Chapter of the Academy of Financial Services is pleased to announce the Personal Finance and Investment Symposium (PFIS) 2025, to be held November 16–17, 2025, in Perth, Australia.

We welcome paper submissions from academics and practitioners worldwide on a broad range of personal finance topics, including but not limited to: retirement planning, fintech, regulatory compliance, diversity and inclusion, financial decision-making, and financial education.

Submission Details:

  • Structured abstracts (max 1,000 words) due by August 29, 2025
  • All submissions will undergo double-blind peer review

The Academy of Financial Services Australia-New Zealand Chapter extends our sincere thanks to all members who endorsed our collective submission to the 2025 Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) Journal Quality List assessment. Your support for the Financial Services Review, Financial Planning Research Journal, and Financial Planning Review is greatly appreciated as we continue to advocate for greater recognition of personal finance and financial planning scholarship. 

$60,500 raised for FSR by OACIP

Thank you to Lyrasis and the University Libraries that have already stepped forward to support FSR through the Open Access Community Investment Program. We have raised $60,500 of our $69,000 target!


Lyrasis/OACIP informed us that if your librarian, department or institution is interested in supporting FSR, they can still do so!

We are still looking or 3 libraries at $1000/yr for three years!
